I have finally started brewing beer again! It’s been a few years since I got my brew kettle out to make anything. My parents got me a gift certificate to Hop Hero Homebrew Supply (right here in Rancho Cordova!) for my birthday, so I suppose that was the kick in the pants I needed to get brewing again.
I am making a Double Chocolate Stout. I cannot seem to find any of my old recipes, so I picked up a pre-assembled kit. You can find the recipe here.
One thing I forgot about brewing dark beers is that they have a tendency to foam up, especially when it’s warm. My wort overtook my airlock on my fermentation bucket and spilled all over the place. I ended up having to come up with an alternative airlock system to allow the foaming wort to escape, but not leak all over my house.
